All Moved In

I’m all moved in to my granny flat. But of course it didn’t take very long as all I had is a couple of suitcases and a bit of an overflow into a shopping bag. Being nomadic for so long made moving a breeze.

The place is very light and bright, which I really like and it’s also very minimalist, which I also like. But it has everything that I need, right down to the pots and pans and cleaning equipment. Although Jabu comes once a week to clean and do the ironing!

I’d say the flat is around 400 ft.² (37 m²). The downstairs has huge windows and is the main living area with a galley kitchen and the bathroom. And upstairs is the loft bedroom which is very big and could fit three beds in it! There are big windows up there, too, so there is a lot of light.

It was sad to leave Mick and Debbie‘s. I’m going to miss them, and the kitties. And I’ll miss the masses of bird life they have there, plus the frog chorus at night. But I will be up there to see them quite frequently I think, and will spend Christmas with them.

There are a few things I want to add, of course, but today it’s raining so I really don’t feel like going out. Instead I’ll stay in and watch TV, something I very seldom do.

As I was standing at the kitchen window this morning making my coffee, I saw the trees really making odd movements and realized that the monkeys were here. There was a big troop of them playing in the trees; males and females with babies. Now I really know I am back in KwaZulu Natal. I’ll just have to remember to close the windows when I go out because the monkeys love to get into the house and find anything that they can eat and make a huge mess.

I’m sure you will be seeing monkey pix soon!

Although there are security measures in place, this area feels a lot safer. We have electric gates and I have a code to turn the alarm on in the house when I leave. And the windows of course have burglar guards, but it’s not as intense as some areas. And apparently it’s safe to walk here, so I will be able to get out and get some exercise instead of sitting at the computer all day.

I can find just about everything within walking distance, and I will walk right by my old school. There are grocery stores, coffee shops, banks etc, so it’s very convenient.

Now I will discover what it’s really like to live here. It’s going to be an interesting journey.
