Catching Up With Old Friends

One of the best things about being in one place for a while, is reconnecting with old friends in the area.

Last week, on a very rainy, blustery day, I drove up the I5 freeway to meet Cathy in Del Mar. Cathy and Steve are/were my crazy ex’s best friends, having gone to high school with Steve. They were the only ones at our wedding in Yosemite all those years ago. After and during the turmoil of divorce, foreclosures and leaving the area, we lost contact. I’d try to see them when I was in SoCal, but our get togethers became fewer and fewer and farther apart. And as I was moving around so much, even those times fell by the wayside as well.

But being here in San Diego, timing and place were just right and I went to their new house a month or two ago. And then this week, Cathy and I met for coffee. It was so wonderful to catch up with all that’s going on in her life with the kids and grandkids. And so good to be able to talk about what I have gone through with someone who knows the craziness surrounding my life for so many years, and understands what I have been through.

We talked for what seemed like hours! And I am hoping that we will be able to repeat our coffee breaks - often!

On the way back to San Diego, the heavens opened and the freeway slowed to a crawl. It took me 3 hours instead of half an hour to get home. But it was so worth the effort. It gave me plenty of time to think about my psychic reading and contemplate the direction my life is going to go.

And today, the wind is howling and it’s pouring, while I enjoy Bosco and Sugar and Shadow, animals and house I took care of a while ago. I’m here for just an overnight - something I probably wouldn’t have done without the benefit of having a base to return to.
